The International Police Executive Symposium (IPES) brings police researchers and practitioners together to facilitate cross-cultural, international and interdisciplinary exchanges for the enrichment of the policing profession. It encourages discussions and writing on challenging topics of contemporary importance through an array of initiatives including conferences and publications.

Dear IPES Argentina Participants:
The 2011 IPES Buenos Aires Host, Legislator Ingaramo, Head of the Justice Commission, unexpectedly expired which has left us without a host. Knowing that many of you have already purchased airline tickets, secured funding, etc. to attend the meeting, we will NOT cancel IPES Argentina. However, in light of the unforeseen changes, we will need to make unprecedented changes to the format of our meeting. Since there is no subsidized hospitality from the HOST, IPES most reluctantly asks you to pay $350 more than what you have paid so far. You can pay that money by PAYPAL (a supplemental fee button has been added), or send a check to Paul Moore, IPES Treasurer. This will cover all expenses: Hotel, Meals, Sightseeing, Internal Transportation (pick-up/drop-off from airport) and all related needs.
While you are welcome to remain registered for IPES Argentina, we are also offering a few alternative plans we hope will suit you. First, we would like to invite you to IPES Sweden (Karlskrona) from August 10-14, 2011, hosted by Chief Commissioner of Police, Per Svartz (Blekinge County Police) & Dr. Ursula Hass (Chancellor, Blekinge Institute of Technology). The theme is “Contemporary Issues in Public Safety and Security” and Co-Chaired by Professor Dr. Darryl Plecas (University of Fraser Valley, BC, Canada) & Deputy Commissioner Gary Bass (RCMP). Like all other IPES meetings, registration includes complete hospitality: Hotel, meals, cultural events, internal transportation, etc.
If you are interested in attending, kindly inform Mintie Das at ipesinfo@yahoo.com and we will gladly transfer your IPES Argentina registration fee and application to IPES Sweden. IPES Sweden is a standard IPES meeting with hosts and total hospitality. Your IPES Argentina registration fee will completely cover the IPES Sweden registration fee. Therefore, you will save $350 if you choose to attend IPES Sweden.
Second, if IPES Sweden is not a viable option for you, we are happy to apply your IPES Argentina registration fee as credit for upcoming symposia. Finally, we will issue a refund to you for your IPES Argentina registration fees (kindly note, we are unable to refund airfare or any other costs besides registration that may have incurred).
For those of you interested in continuing your participation in IPES Argentina, please contact Zlatko Ivanovic (ipesassistant@gmail.com). If you would like to transfer your registration to IPES Sweden, kindly contact Mintie Das (ipesinfo@yahoo.com). For credits or refunds, please contact Paul Moore (paul@ipes.info). All refunds will be processed after the IPES Sweden meeting.
NOTE: IT IS IMPERITIVE THAT ALL BUENOS AIRES ATTENDEES PAY THE ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTAL FEE PRIOR TO COMING TO THE MEETING. THESE FUNDS ARE REQUIRED TO PRE-PAY THE COSTS OF THE HOTEL, MEALS, TRAVEL, ETC. IF OUR GUESTS COME TO THE MEETING WITHOUT PAYING THE ADDITIONAL SUPPLEMENTAL FEES, IPES CANNOT GUARANTEE AVAILABILITY OF ROOMS OR OTHER AMENITIES.
Again, we truly regret all the trouble, inconvenience and frustration these changes have caused you. IPES is devastated by these turn of events. However, we assure you that we are fully committed to making IPES Argentina a success.

registration is a three step process

Click on the "Late Registration Fee" button to submit your payment for the standard meeting registration. Next, click on the "Supplemental Fee" button to submit the required supplemental fee. The supplemental fee is required for all attendees including spouses and associates.
Step Two: COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE REGISTRATION FORM
After you have sucessfully sent your registration payment, complete the registration form at the bottom of this page and click on the "submit form" buttom at the end to send your registration information to IPES.
Step Three: SEND COPY OF BIO AND PHOTO
Please submit a photo (jpeg or pdf) and bio (500 words-bios may be edited) to Dr. Darryl Plecas at darryl.plecas@ufv.ca as soon as possible to be included in the IPES 2011 Program Directory.

WHAT YOUR REGISTRATION FEE COVERS:
Once successfully registered, you will receive free and full hospitality. This includes internal transportation, hotel accommodations, all meals, excursions to criminal justice and police institutions, sightseeing trips, and cultural entertainment at no extra cost to the participant.
In addition, you will receive a free subscription to Police Practice and Research: An International Journal which costs approximately $500 for an institution to subscribe to.
All participants and their organizations are invited to contribute to the book of proceedings which will be published after the meeting and all contributors will get a copy of the book (worth $100 or more). Besides, all IPES meeting participants are offered generous discounts for buying IPES books (See Publication Section in the web site). They are allowed discounts on advertisements online in the IPES web site and in the brochure that will be published as the Program Directory of the meeting.
Kindly note: Hotel is paid for from arrival on June 26, 2011 thru departure on July 1, 2011. Participants arriving before June 26th, 2011 or departing after July 1st, 2011 are required to cover their own accommodation expenses. Those needing extra hotel days should contact the hotel for discounted hotel rates.
Also, due to financial commitments and obligations on the part of IPES, refunds will not be permitted on or after April 30th, 2011. For all refunds, a processing fee of $100 will be withheld from the refunded amount for each attendee, spouse, significant other, or child that a refund is issued to.
PAYMENT SECTION
Paypal Transaction Fees
Paypal charges a small percentage of each transaction for using their service. This fee is reflected on the transaction as a tax and IPES has no control over this fee.
